It is wonderful to see this website. I live in South Carolina and have been very dismayed by recent news reports. We have been experiencing a drought, so the grazing is not adequate. Some people are actually allowing their horses to starve, rather than pay the extra money for supplemental feeding. Fortunately, a massive horse rescue is underway here.

Tell your readers to keep their eyes open to any abuses or starvation they see and to report it.

Horses are a wonderful addition to our lives but we must take the responsibility to do the right things for all of our animals.

Very informative article. A lot persons automatically assume that if another type of animal was on the property (cows, etc), then its perfectly fine for horses too. Nothing could be further from the truth. The necessities for horses is usually a much higher requirement compared to cattle. If you are going to have horses on your farm, you need to make sure you are taking care of them - that way they can take care of you.

Thanks for the information. Horses are members of your family and deserve a diet that provides nutrition to meet their needs. Its just like if you eat nothing but Twinkies, you probably aren't long for this world. Take care of your horse, and they'll take care of you.
